What is a colour analysis? What it includes, how to choose one and where to have it
A colour analysis is a personal study of colour: it looks at how your skin, eyes and hair react to different colours to find out which ones light you up and which ones drain you. The result is your colour season and a palette you can use every day. In this article I explain what is analysed, what you take away and how to choose where to have it.

Colour analysis: what exactly it is
It is a session with an image consultant who compares colours next to your face, in good light, until finding the ones that harmonise with you. It is not a trend or a label: it is a tool to shop with criteria, combine what you already own better and spend less.
What is analysed
- Undertone: whether your skin leans warm or cool.
- Value: whether light or dark colours suit you better.
- Intensity: whether bright or soft colours work better for you.
- Contrast: the difference between your skin, hair and eyes.
With these four parameters you are placed in one of the four seasons (spring, summer, autumn or winter) and in its sub-group. To see the session step by step, read how a colour analysis is done.
What you take away
- Your season and sub-group, explained with examples of real garments.
- Your personal palette, with colours for clothes, make-up, metals and hair.
- A personalised report and WhatsApp follow-up for any questions.
- At the studio, a pocket swatch with 12 drapes of your season as well.
How to choose a good colour analysis
- Training: ask where the consultant trained and which method they use.
- Light: the analysis needs natural or controlled light; the warm light of a shop distorts colours.
- Real drapes: comparing colours next to the face is more reliable than an app or a photo.
- Time: a rushed session misses the nuances; allow about an hour.
- What you take away: a clear report and follow-up make the difference in everyday life.
- Clear pricing: it helps to know from the start what is included and what it costs; here are colour analysis prices.
Where to have your colour analysis
In Barcelona: at the GIULIMAGE studio, with my analysis drapes and controlled light. All the details are in colour analysis in Barcelona.
Online: if you live in another city, online colour analysis follows the same method by video call, from anywhere in Spain. Before the session, check how to prepare for online colour analysis.
In Zaragoza and Madrid: the Zaragoza studio opens on 9 December 2026 and the Madrid studio on 15 January 2027. Meanwhile you can join the waiting list on colour analysis in Zaragoza or colour analysis in Madrid.
Sessions can be in English, Spanish or Italian.
Colour analysis and armocromia
I trained at the Italian Image Institute in Milan and Rome, where this analysis is known as armocromia. If you are curious about the difference and the origin of the method, read what armocromia is.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a colour analysis take?
About an hour, both at the studio and online. The version with a hair-colour focus takes about 90 minutes.
Are colour analysis and armocromia the same?
They look for the same thing: the colours that flatter you. Armocromia is the name of the Italian method, which works with four parameters and sub-groups within each season; in Spain “colorimetría” usually refers to colour analysis in general.
How should I come to the session?
Without make-up or accessories and, if possible, without having sunbathed in the days before, because a tan makes it harder to read your skin tone.
Can a colour analysis be done online?
Yes, by video call and with natural light. The method is the same; you just need to prepare the light, the camera and a few reference garments properly.
